Diversity and Multicultural Committee

Purpose:
  • To further sensitize the higher education community to issues faced by people of color in higher education.
  • To assist students, especially people of color, in the access to and success in higher education.
  • To identify and address multi-cultural concerns of financial aid administrators and serve as an information resource.
Duties:
  • Develop a comprehensive annual plan to implement the purposes stated above.
  • Work with the Annual Conference Committee and Training Committee to develop programs or sessions which address the annual plan's objectives.
  • Recommend to the Executive Council other annual activities to meet committee purposes.
  • Prepare a budget for annual operations and account to the Treasurer for all expenditures with necessary supporting documentation.
 

 

Membership:
  • Chair (or Co-Chairs): Appointed by the President
  • Members: At least three committee members (additional as necessary), selected by the Chair with the approval of the President.
 

 

Tenure:
  • One year, but may be re-appointed.
 

 

Qualifications:
  • Interest in and commitment to the purposes of the Committee and experience working with similar committees.
