| Purpose: |
- To keep CAPFAA membership informed of important Federal and
State regulatory changes which affect the process of awarding and disbursing
federal/state financial aid. Review, analyze, evaluate, and/or respond to
regulatory, legislative, and programmatic issues; assist in the dissemination
of information as necessary; identify and develop Association positions on issues;
serve as a resource for legislators and their aides.

| Duties: |
- Work in concert with EASFAA Federal Relations Committee
regarding position papers, reports to Congressional officials and NASFAA.
- Encourage outreach between membership and the Connecticut Congressional delegation.
- Keep changes in federal legislation in the forefront of membership awareness.
- Focus on state financial aid issues and establish relationships with key
state legislators. Issue alerts to the membership on changes in state programs.
- Expand efforts to educate and train on the process of legislative advocacy
and on issues pertaining to legislation and regulations.
- Prepare an annual operations budget sufficient to maintain this committee
and report all expenditures to the CAPFAA treasurer on a timely basis.

| Membership: |
- Chair (or co-chairs): Appointed by the President.
- Members: Minimum one individual form each type of
institution (i.e. public, private, proprietary), selected by the chair
with the approval of the President.

| Tenure: |
- One year, but may be re-appointed.
|
| Qualifications: |
- Interest in reviewing current and proposed policy relating to all aspects of
administering financial aid.
