For those I haven’t yet had the privilege to meet, I’m Ashley Benner, honored to serve as your CAPFAA President for the 2025–2026 aid year. With 15 years of experience in higher education and financial aid, I continue to be energized by this field and all that it represents.

Late August into September has always been one of my favorite times of year. Our profession is both cyclical and ever-changing. Over the summer, we work tirelessly to help students clear barriers so they can begin the year focused on their studies. Then, that first week back arrives—filled with excitement, ambition, and yes, a fair share of nerves. Whether this is your first or your 40th aid cycle, the energy of a new academic year is unmistakable.

At our CAPFAA retreat, it was inspiring to collaborate with such a talented team as we planned for the year ahead. I witnessed our mission—promoting professional growth, fostering mentoring, supporting cooperation and communication, and stewarding ethical practice—come to life in every conversation and effort. For 2025–2026, our goals include enriching training opportunities, expanding scholarship funds, building meaningful professional connections, and supporting more colleagues in earning their FAAC® designation.

Serving as your president is truly an honor, and I take seriously the trust you have placed in me to help guide our association forward. Together, I know we will strengthen all that CAPFAA stands for while extending its reach. Wishing you a bright start to the fall term and a rewarding year ahead.
