Where do you work and what is your title:  UConn Student Financial Aid Services, Financial Aid Counselor

What’s your favorite food?   Mexican

Why did you enter the Financial Aid field?  There was a job opening and wanted to get into a field that would challenge me. 

Most exotic place you visited?  Playa Del Carma, Mexico

What do you like about your job?  The multi-tasking and the interaction with people as well as supervising a team of students.

What type of music do you like?  Country

What’s the most difficult aspect of your job?  At the current time, getting knowledgeable on the Financial Aid World as I am new to the field.

What would you change about your job?   Nothing at this time

What is the last book you read?  Scarlet Feather

What was your most favorite training so far and why? My incoming training was wonderful!  I had a daily rotation between Financial Aid Officers and processing to learn different aspects of Financial Aid.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life? My sister

What training are you looking forward to?  Continue to look forward to my on the job training.

Where do you call home?  My current home is my favorite place….we built a log cabin in the middle of 30 acres!

What do you do when you are not working?  Spending time with my family, I have 2 boys ages 11 and 9 and a husband of 15 years.

What advice would you give to someone new?   Ask lots of questions and get to know people in every aspect of Financial Aid so you have people as resources if you need help.

Where do you like to go on your vacation and what do you like to do?    Camping in Maine, New Hampshire or Lake George.  However we enjoy trying new places.       

If you had the power, what would you change in the Financial Aid field?   Review of workflow processes to see if there are ways to streamline and make a better experience for our students.
