05 Nov Mentee-For-A-Day is Back!
The award winning Mentee-For-A-Day program is back and looking for new faces to attend the CAPFAA Fall Training on November 4. Please nominate a student or someone new to the profession to attend.
Objective: Promote Financial Aid as a plausible career for student workers, new financial aid office personnel, and new employees at association member organizations. Provide an opportunity/training to experience a day with professionals within the financial aid arena and provide networking opportunities.
History: The Pilot Program was launched at the 2003 Winter Conference in Mystic, Connecticut.
Three mentees from various institutions participated. Winner of the 2007 NASFAA State Award for Service to the Financial Aid Profession. This program has helped to launch several careers.
Nominees: Must be currently employed in the Financial Aid Office of an active CAPFAA member institution, or in an office working with financial aid of an active CAPFAA associate member.
Selection: We are hoping to have ten Mentees attend the Fall Training. Selection will reflect diversity within the membership to the extent possible. We encourage all members to nominate someone. A mentee that is unable to attend may be replaced by an alternate.
Funding: Organizations should expect to pay $45.00 for mentee attendance at the event. Notifications to the organizations of selected nominees will occur on the Friday after the nomination period has closed. Five of the nominees will have the one day registration fee paid for by the Mentoring Committee.
Mentees: All mentees will be recognized during lunch. Mentees will be expected to stand when their name is called to be recognized. Additionally, mentees will wear special name badges identifying them to the membership.
Deadline: Deadline for applications is Thursday, October 15, 2015. Complete a Mentee Nomination Form today!
