24 Oct New CT “Shopping Sheet” Law

On June 6, 2013, the CT General Assembly passed a bill requiring Connecticut institutions of higher education to communicate financial aid information to accepted students in a format commonly referred to as the “shopping sheet.” The new requirement is effective July 1, 2014. The CAPFAA State & Federal Relations Committee reports that based on conversations with legislative proponents at the time of passage and a review of the legislative history, the CT Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC) has interpreted the statute to apply to prospective students who must respond to offers of admission AFTER July 1, 2014. This gives most CT schools some time before they must comply with the new requirement.
